Some of my best writing is done while laying wide awake listening to the snoring, humming and singing of the guy in the bunk underneath mine.
It’s 04:30 and this hostel seems to switch it’s wifi off overnight so I’m working on Word somewhere in the suburbs of Warsaw.
There is a sign on the bathroom door politely requesting guests don't shower until 6am in case it disturbs others. Clearly we have a rebellious hosteller as along with the sound of running water is the distinctly recognisable sound of the washing machine going into full spin mode.......
I haven’t always been the most considerate dorm mate so maybe it’s karma.
The Polish capital has developed quite a coffee scene since my time here, it’s also turned into a sort of dystopian Post Soviet New York and lost that unique smell.
I never quite figured out what the stench was. It was most likely some kind of cheapo Russian disinfectant but it was homely, like wet dog or the London underground (which by the way is 150 years of skin particles- don’t say you don’t learn anything reading my stuff…)
Since next week I’ll be disappearing to the place that invented coffee I’ve decided to rework the blog a bit, giving it a caffeine bean theme.
The rest of my posts from Warsaw will be coffee related.
The plan is, over the next 3 and a bit days to visit the 10 quirkiest coffee shops in the capital and rate them out of ten ‘Kaldis’ (No idea who he is? Read down a few posts)
I might even be able to get some of the script I’m supposed to deliver in August finished!
Ooh sense my enthusiasm
