I'm having one of those surreal afternoons that could probably only happen here!
I wanted to go to 'Coca Cola' light rail station to take some pics. Got the usual "FERRRRANGGGIIIII!!! WHERE YOU GO???"
"Cola is not good. You like buna?"
So that's how I ended up in a coffee shop with four random Ethiopians watching Rihanna and Teddy Afro vids while some old woman shoulder danced with a pot on her head.
Alongside the usual buna. chai and ginger tea there were a few stale biscuits on sale. Attacked by a sudden spasm of guilt I offered my uneaten one to some kid with a moon head and distended tummy. He studied it carefully, swiped the fly off the top of it, gave me a disgusted look and tramped out.
The child clearly has ambition. Hopefully he can avoid the cholera, civil strife and famines and live to at least 25.
I've actually been quite impressed by Ethiopians (or at least Addis Ababans) so far. They're an incredibly friendly group consider the things they've had thrown at them over the years. I can't help thinking though we definitely need some kind of 'Code of Conduct' :
