Hotel Blossom 'markets' (markets is a strong word) itself as a '4 Star Business Hotel' It really isn't.
Maybe I'm being particularly fussy and demanding but for me a '4 Star Business Hotel' has the following as standard, even in an impoverished city a couple of miles from Somalia:
For the most part the staff did seem to be genuinely trying. Little things notwithstanding such as tracking me down at 22:30 one night to say "It is Saturday. You pay half bill now!" I talked my way out of that one. An ATM in Dire Dawa in the middle of the night is not the place to be, given that a proportion of the locals feel it acceptable to lunge at you in broad daylight.
The fact most of the staff did genuinely seem to be making an effort is the reason I won't bother with a review. Not that it matters. With an internet connection like that I doubt they've even heard of Tripadvisor. Ethiopia is in the midst of 2009 (slightly confusing Julian calendar) but very definitely 1995 when it comes to the World Wide Cyber Highway.
Bet that's a phrase you haven't heard for a while?
